About the big monkey

I wanted to make plump and innocent monkeys like Curious George or Ham the Chimp for a long time. Recently I received several e-mails which made me happy and really encouraged me to make a new version. So here it is! I hope you like my monkey:-)
This pattern is free of charge, however, I would appreciate it if you could donate some money to any charity you would like to support.

Materials

DK yarn; Brown, Off-white :I used CYGNET Superwash DK (shade4315) 3 skeins and JAEGER Matchmaker Merino DK (shade662) 1 skein.
cotton wool
embroidery thread or yarn
felt or yarn or 2buttons for eyes
4mm crochet hook
needle and pins

Abbreviations US term

ch chain stitch
sc single crochet
2sc-inc (2-single crochet increase) :2 sc in one stitch
2sc-dec (2-single crochet cluster/decrease) :Insert hook into the 1st sc, yoh and draw loop through, insert hook into the next sc, yoh and draw loop, yoh and draw through all 3 loops on hook
yoh yarn over hook
sl st slip stitch

Note

It is easy to count rows if you finish each rows like this: Join with sl st in the first sc of the row and chain 1 st. (Do not count these as proper sts! Do not sc into these!) Then you start next row to insert hook into the first sc of the last row (This is the first sc of each row).

Come with me!

Finishing

*Stuff a lot of cotton wool into the body (this may need some shoving:-) to hold the heavy head properly.
*For health and safety reasons, this monkey is stuffed with only cotton wool. If you want to stuff some plastic pellets or azuki beans into the hip of the body to let your monkey sit properly, please do make sure pellets or beans won't come out from the body.
*Sew the body and the head together with the left over yarn from the body.
*Sew the arms and the legs to the body.
*Sew the tail onto the body if she/he has one.
*My monkey's height is 42cm and his sitting height is 30cm. It would be bigger, perhaps 50cm height, if you make a monkey with aran yarn.

How do I play? He is a little busker!

Enjoy making!

I will be happy if you send your monkey's picture to change (at-mark) to @ @マークを半角で変換してください。
